Vocabulary 2

1) Pummel-v.  strike repeatedlytypically with the fists 
Jade pummeled Jake for not doing his history. 


2) Cajole- v. persuade someone to do something by sustained coaxing or flattery 
Sally cajoled her mom by giving her chocolate and she got her curfew extended.


3) Irate- adj. feeling or characterized by great anger 
The irate 10th grade class was infuriated when a certain someone made it so they couldn't play vocab charades.  


4) Insolence- adj. showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect 
In result of not being able to play vocab charades, the 10th grade class showed insolence toward an other member of the class. 


5) Maliciously- adv. characterized by malice; intending or intended to do harm
The cat maliciously attacked the bear. 


6) Quell- v. put an end to (a rebellion or other disorder), typically by the use of force
The prison guard had to quell the fright between the two inmates. 

7) Perspicacity- adj. having a ready insight into and understanding of things
The coaches perspicacity of the game lead them to winning two state basketball championships in a row.
8) Dastardly- adj. wicked and cruel 
The though of eating puppies is dastardly. 


9) Churlish- adj. rude in a mean-spirited and surly way 
The churlish dog purposely peed in his bed.


10) Assiduously- adv. showing great care and perseverance
The old man assiduously walked across the street.


11) Annul- v. declare invalid 
The teacher annulled the student's answer to the question. 


12) Chagrin- n. distress or embarrassment at having failed or been humiliated
The mans chagrin was later laughed about at his wedding when they were told as anecdotes. 


13) Anecdote- n. a short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person
The old man loved sharing his anecdotes with his granddaughter 


14) Efficacy- n. the ability to produce a desired or intended result
The girls efficacy made other people who could not preform jealous.
